Stolen Goodz :: SHINee vs Havana Brown

So I'm not exactly the expert when it comes to kpop but when I heard this song by Havana Brown I instantly thought geez - this sounds a lot like SHINee's Lucifer..

so I had to share..

Havana Brown's We Run the Night

SHINee's Lucifer [note: the beat I'm referring to starts about 00:22]

what do you think? fact or fiction?

Still Waiting :: BIGBANG World Tour

Sorry for the lack of posts still...I'm kinda still in a funk but trying to work myself out of it..

I swear the more and more I listen to Alive the more frustrated and antsy I get about the LACK OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORLD TOUR. Like geez... you've teased all of us long enough! Announce the cities and dates already [as if they need the publicity]!!

(btw my favorite songs on Alive are "Blue" & "Ain't No Fun")

Well while I was scouring the web trying to appease my need for BIGBANG I decided to check out the entries for their cover contest & omgeeeez. Some of these contestants got skillz!

Here are my top three (these people are sooo good, I just had to share!)

IzzyLovesMusiCk's

This girl is just sooo cute! How can you watch this video and not love her version?! The best part? THE UKULELE!! If it was just up to the boys I think her winning would be a sure thing.

Terry He (何天宇)

Another English version...yet what makes it so good is that its believable. I can't tell you how many "translated" videos I've watched that just come off straight corny and/or hilarious. Terry He's version is legit in the fact that I still feel that emotional connection to the song just like when I listen to BIGBANG's version.

remixeeeeeee.. I love this version because it slows it down and really emphasizes the emotions behind the lyrics. Slow'n steady. Its definitely a jam. My one grip would be that I wished he would changed it up a bit more. Take Lil Wayne for example, he always grabs tracks from other artists and basically OWNS THEM. I would have liked to see D.Meanor do just that. Just tear this track up!! He comes close to doing but falls short. Definitely like his vibe though.

Like I said befre, there is a bunch of extremely talented people in this contest so it'll be interesting to see who wins the grand prize. So until we get some more information about the world tour I would suggest you check this competition out, you might find a few YouTubers worth subscribing to.

btw I just wanted to leave you with one example of Lil Wayne tearing up a track...this is a song by the artist Miguel called "Sure Thing"... its a nice song. Actually it was one I really loved....take a listen.

then Lil Wayne had to go and be a show off...totally OWNING the original version...

thats the jam right??? Thats what I was hoping D.Meanor would have done with the "Blue" track. Just devour it. He's got potential, he's just got to take it to another level...

Do You See It Too? T.O.P.

Okay, so the instant I saw this photo of T.O.P...

I instantly thought he would have made the perfect George Koizumi from Paradise Kiss...

just saying.....

Fat Cat's New MV

Have you guys checked out Fat Cat's new single "Is Being Pretty Everything?" [thanks to @Dramafever for sharing!]

When I saw the teaser I thought the MV would be along the lines of Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" but it actually wasn't which was kinda a nice surprise. Along with being very visual appealing the song actually has message that I think most girls can relate to.

So who is Fat Cat?

I asked myself the same thing after I checked out the video. I really hadn't heard about her until earlier this week when I saw the teasers.  She is still a relatively new artist having only debuted in September (2011) yet has a commanding stage presence that has people talking.

These days there aren't many artists (KPOP) who debut without a group. While there are many idols who choose to go solo after working with group, I think the fact that Fat Cat is able to generate such interest in her solo act is something in itself.

BTW I tried to access her Official site today but couldn't because it crashed, but you can check out her twitter account :: FatCat0_0

YouTube Awesomeness

These past couples of days YouTube has had some pretty cool videos and such going on so I wanted to share....

1) Jang Geun Suk has opened a YouTube channel.

This is cool considering he just shut down his twitter but also kinda weird since I thought he wanted more privacy. Whatever though. I'm still excited! His user name is PrinceJKS (not a big shocker) & currently has three videos posted. Hopefully we'll see more activity soon.

2) KPop is its own music genre on YouTube's music page!

I don't I need to say why this is cool, it just is.

3) TAEYANG's cover of Beyonce's "I Miss You"

Simply amazing right?

oPop!gasa

Here is a quick app that I wanted to share!

So thanks to American K-Pop Fans I have discovered a pretty cool iPhone app called Pop!gasa. Pop!gasa is an app that has your the lyrics to your favorite K-Pop song in English.

While their selection isn't the biggest, its got potential. A lot of current songs are listed and I am sure more will be added and since its a free app you really can't complain.

Cool right? [click here to go to iTunes to download]

New Love :: Jang Geun Suk 장근석

He has been dominating both my kdrama playlist and my iTunes music library so it was imperative that I shared my love. While I am slowly graduating from Kdrama newbie to novice I am starting to become more familiar with some of famous actors & actresses.

Lee Minho ::sigh::

Up until this point my favorite leading man has been Lee Minho [duh right? who DOESNT like him?!] One of things I love about Lee Minho, especially in City Hunter, is that his characters are always so "manly" yet totally fashionable. So what happened to cause me to fall for another Hallyu star??! A friend recommended I watch "You're Beautiful" because I'm a sucker for the romantic comedy, love triangles. So I did and I loved it! Jang Geun Suk was such cute and likable lead despite him acting totally spoiled and arrogant. What was even better is he sings in it!! :::faints::::

The only thing that kinda threw me was the aweful wardrobe he wore, though to be fair that entire series had the worst fashion of any kdrama I have seen thus far.

uh nice clothes?

Anyways, I decided to watch another one of Jang Geun Suk's dramas "Marry Me Mary."  This drama is tied with BOF as my favorite kdrama! Jang Geun Suk plays an indie artist named Mu-Gyul, a womanizer and somewhat of a hippie ,who meets a girl who makes him pretend to be her husband. Scandalous right?! Trust me, two episodes in and the drama is unbelievable! So good.

Again, another bonus to this series is he sings in it. I must admit, at first, I thought the soundtrack/OST was super corny, but as time goes on and the songs play over and over (and over and over) throughout the series you being to really love them & Jang Geun Suk's deep voice. Its pretty crazy because even when I wasn't that familiar with the songs I could still pick out his voice even when listening on my iPhone since is voice it so deep! I love it.

So now I'm officially hooked. I am now proactively looking for his other dramas and movies to watch.

So there you have it. My new love Jang keun Suk. <3

K Pop Masters - Where's the Media Coverage?

This past weekend KPOP Masters Concert was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.  While still relatively new to the KPOP scene, this concert seemed like pretty big news with acts like KARA, 4 Minute, Brown Eye Girls, Beast, SISTAR and others performing. Despite these big KPOP bands performing, this event went almost unnoticed by some of the leading KPop sites/blogs. So what gives?  According to AsianJunkie

What a lame reason right? I am definitely not try to be a hater because I love AllKPop and must say I visit the site almost daily. Yet this is entirely irritating.  If you;re going to pride yourself on having the best media coverage then do just that. Otherwise please have a disclaimer letting me know that you clearly pick and choose which stars/acts you plan to cover so I can look elsewhere for my news.

Girls Generation

This post is not necessarily “Japanese” but I really like this group.  In August they are supposed to be starting to promote their music in Japan (they’re a South Korean group) so it should be interesting to see if they will be well received.

I am definately a fan tho!  Each are so cute and pretty its hard not to like them.

In August they will make their debut at the Tokyo Ariake Coliseum, so we shall see if Japan feels the same way.
