Fashion King :: LAMEE

Fashion King concluded earlier this week and for those who stuck it out - most were left super disappointed. Personally, I didn't make it to the final episode. I got fed up with Lee Ga Young's weird personality and never ending "walk-all-over-me" tears and stopped watching about episode 11.

Fashion King was billed as a "romantic comedy" yet the entire time I watched that series I never laughed nor fell in love. Instead what I got was weird outfits, angry lovers, and mean ass glares. Did anyone actually enjoy this drama?

Stolen Goodz :: SHINee vs Havana Brown

So I'm not exactly the expert when it comes to kpop but when I heard this song by Havana Brown I instantly thought geez - this sounds a lot like SHINee's Lucifer..

so I had to share..

Havana Brown's We Run the Night

SHINee's Lucifer [note: the beat I'm referring to starts about 00:22]

what do you think? fact or fiction?

Getting it doneeeeeee

So my blogging might have hit the back burner but oMgeeezz so much has happened and it feels so good!

The biggest thing that happened was that my husband graduated and was commissioned.

This is huge for our family! So much will change for us in the next couple of months and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to start this new adventure with him. Sadly this also means he's about to leave us for several months of training...but I guess the sooner I get used to that the easier my life will be..

This quarter is almost over and I'm happy. I feel like I'm making progress. Things are moving forward and I can't tell you how motivating that is. I'm taking one of my labs over the summer and then three class in the fall.  I will then have my AA! yayyyy!!

Kawaii Picture Apps

So I'm a complete sucker for photo apps on my iPhone... but normally I suck at creating anything worth sharing. I've been getting a little better and I thought I would share my latest creation.. (if you've seen my twitter profile, then you've already seen the finished product!)

hahaha... crazy right??

KDrama App :: SBS Hidden Catch

I love my kdramas when I found this I just had to share!

SBS Hidden Catch

This app is pretty simple. All you have to do is find the differences between the two kdrama (and even variety show) scenes given. Before you start a game it lets you select which level you want [Easy, Normal, Hard] and even on the easy level I thought it was kinda hard >_< You can zoom in & out but must find all the differences before time runs out.

While this app really isn't anything new or innovative, I really like the fact that you have to find the difference between kdrama scenes. lol. If you get tired of the free version, you can always buy different drama "packs" (there's a City Hunter Pack, Athena Pack, Protect Boss, etc).. anyways I though this was a neat app. Had to share!

April:: KDrama Heaven :: Love Rain

If your not watching a currently airing kdrama this month you totally should be.. this month is JAMMED packed with amazing actors & story lines that you definitely don't want to miss.. I'm going to try and highlight a few I'm watching in my next couple of posts.

Love Rain

um... how can I not mention this one first! Its has my one true Korean love (aside from Lee Min Ho, T.O.P., Song Joong Ki, Kim Hyun Joong, Yonghwa.... uh - okay maybe not my only one) Jang Geun Suk & Girls Generation's [SNSD] Yoona.

Because I am such a devoted and loyal fan of Jang Geun Suk, I would have watched this drama till end no matter what, and after watching this first episode I thought I was going to have to suffer through it for my love.  Yet despite the rather slow, very moody start things picked up about episode 3.

While the story starts off in the 70s (with very impressive sceneries & cinematography btw) about an artist's [Jang Geun Suk] love at first sight experience [w/Yoona]. It doesn't take long for things to become complicated when his best friend also falls for the same girl.

About episode 4 we are left wondering what happened to those heartbroken lovers and jilted to present day Korea where we meet their modern day counterparts..

Anyways that's where I left off and really can't tell you anymore since, well, I haven't watched it! I wouldn't say this drama is for everyone and you almost have to want to watch it for you to connect with the storyline. Still, I'm hooked and I want more.

Stay tuned for my thoughts on Fashion King, Rooftop Prince, & King 2 Hearts!

I'm alive.. barely

I've already started back at school and wow, was that a rude awakening.  Even though I'm not taking any really hard classes this past week I severely failed at managing my time. I seriously just finished my last assignment for my Computer Class that is due later tonight and already I'm somewhat dreading Monday when it starts all over again!

Luckily I think I can schedule my time a bit better this next week so I was be as stressed or as pressed for time.

In case you're curious the classes I'm taking are::
  • Elementary Spanish [my husband finds this hysterical because my Spanish is horrible]
  • Computer 101 - basically its an introduction to computers...this is an online course that should be a breeze but I don't have Microsoft 2010 - I have 2011, so everything is off and different! such a pain!
  • Wellness - one night a week class....pretty straight forward. I like it
  • World Literature - I have this really loud & animated teacher which would probably annoy me any other time but its an 8 am class so I appreciate her personality
  •
Not too bad right? I have about 6 more classes to take after this quarter and then I'll have my AA. I would have liked to just continue going to the University I was at but since I was really unsure where we would be living next year [my husband is in the military] I didn't want to take more credits that would have been lost during another transfer. Thus I just decided to get an AA for now.

As always though I am still watching kdramas when I have time and still do love blogging. I just need to get a better hold on my schedule to allow myself time to blog.

Happy Easter!!

Update ::: Personal

The past month and a half have been such downers! .. but I'm glad I'm finally getting my head into a more positive place and am excited to see all the changes that will be happening in my life in the next couple of months..

School..

I finally completed and turned in all the paper work for me to go back to school! I'm really excited and have never wanted something so bad.  The time you spend in college/university & the things you experience is different for everyone, and while I'll admit that I've had some great memories & experiences (as well as taken A LOT of time off to get married & have babies!) - I've wasted enough time. Its time to buckle down and get my degree...

btw I changed my major from Economics to Mass Communications. I'm excited to take classes in my new major but also seriously bummed I suffered through college level Calculus for nothing >_<

Suchi...

The podcast I host over at JapanCinema is doing great!! We've already recorded three episodes and are getting great feedback. This past episode we had our first guest, Rekstizzy (he's a rapper from NY and runs the site Gumship.com) and he completely shook things up! He's loud and super opinionated but you can't help but love him & giggle at all these crazy things that come out of his mouth...seriously recording that last episode was crazzzy.

Blog..

I love my blog so much! I can't help but feel it needs a bit of revamping/makeover though so be on the lookout for random changes or a complete over haul. Since I haven't been blogging much this past month or so I have a lot to share! Here are a few posts I have in mind
  • Just Finished Watching :: Shut Up Flower Boy Band
  • Currently Watching :: EVERYTHING! lol [Fashion King, Rooftop Prince, & hopefully Love Rain]
  • My Glam Bag vs Birch Box
  • Kawaii Apps
  • ..and more fashion posts

....so here's to making the rest of the month count!

Still Waiting :: BIGBANG World Tour

Sorry for the lack of posts still...I'm kinda still in a funk but trying to work myself out of it..

I swear the more and more I listen to Alive the more frustrated and antsy I get about the LACK OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORLD TOUR. Like geez... you've teased all of us long enough! Announce the cities and dates already [as if they need the publicity]!!
(btw my favorite songs on Alive are "Blue" & "Ain't No Fun")

Well while I was scouring the web trying to appease my need for BIGBANG I decided to check out the entries for their cover contest & omgeeeez. Some of these contestants got skillz!

Here are my top three (these people are sooo good, I just had to share!)

IzzyLovesMusiCk's

This girl is just sooo cute! How can you watch this video and not love her version?! The best part? THE UKULELE!! If it was just up to the boys I think her winning would be a sure thing.

Another English version...yet what makes it so good is that its believable. I can't tell you how many "translated" videos I've watched that just come off straight corny and/or hilarious. Terry He's version is legit in the fact that I still feel that emotional connection to the song just like when I listen to BIGBANG's version.

OfficialDmeanor님의 채널

remixeeeeeee.. I love this version because it slows it down and really emphasizes the emotions behind the lyrics. Slow'n steady. Its definitely a jam. My one grip would be that I wished he would changed it up a bit more. Take Lil Wayne for example, he always grabs tracks from other artists and basically OWNS THEM. I would have liked to see D.Meanor do just that. Just tear this track up!! He comes close to doing but falls short. Definitely like his vibe though.

Like I said befre, there is a bunch of extremely talented people in this contest so it'll be interesting to see who wins the grand prize. So until we get some more information about the world tour I would suggest you check this competition out, you might find a few YouTubers worth subscribing to.

   Photobucket

btw I just wanted to leave you with one example of Lil Wayne tearing up a track...this is a song by the artist Miguel called "Sure Thing"... its a nice song. Actually it was one I really loved....take a listen.

then Lil Wayne had to go and be a show off...totally OWNING the original version...

thats the jam right??? Thats what I was hoping D.Meanor would have done with the "Blue" track. Just devour it. He's got potential, he's just got to take it to another level...

Netizens :: Why They Suck Part II

In this post I want to share my love/hate relationship with the netizens of Korea (speaking figuratively of course, since technically netizens could live anywhere in the world.) You can read about my frustration with US netizens [here].

In Korea...

...netizens generally have standards. Shocking, right?

It might have to do with cultural differences or maybe just industry differences but their is no denying that the netizens of Korea hold their idols & celebrities to some insane standards. Some of these standards are good in my opinion while others are bizarre, borderline crazy.

Looking at Korea right off the bat there isn't "standard" controversies like there is in America. If someone has a sex tape, drug problem, or disrespects it generally signals the end of their career.

Point blank.

The droves of people who signed up at your fan meet or sent you fan letters are gone. Once you shame yourself it can be extremely hard to win over your fans again and even others in the industry.

First off. This is kind of a good thing. It can help remind idols/celebrities not to take what they have for granted and keeps them focused.  Those who do create scandal, while I understand that everyone is human and makes mistakes, I will admit that its nice to hear them apologize and actually face some consequences instead of just getting a slap on the wrist [if that] like they do here in America.

Out of all these celebrities - only G-Dragon faced serious backlash for smoking marijuana (via DailyBeast, NYTimes, & AllKPop)

On the other hand, netizens can use their so called power - for evil. Case and point  Block B & the Thailand debacle

I don't know why but the way they are being treated by netizens bothers me soooo much and I'm not even a Block B fan. I mean up until this point I had no clue who they were...yet despite me being unfamiliar with them what they're going through really resonated with me.

Yes, they screwed up. Yes, they shouldn't have made such careless comments. Yes, they were wrong.

But can anyone seriously watch that apology video and not feel the massive amount of guilt and sadness these boys are bearing? The 90 degree bow? The heart felt words of apology? I mean Zico (their leader) even shaved his head.

Yet the shade they are suffering from netizens is so distorted from what it out to be. These guys have shown such humility and grace in a situation that should have never been amplified to this level. I think its so sad that despite Block B's actions to rectify the situation they have only been received with anger & hatred. I really can't even get into the suicide petitions because its just so awful it doesn't merit any extra attention. But I really don't understand what more can these guys do to actually receive netizens forgiveness? At this point I wish they could just brush this off but its beyond that now.

So if I had one thing I could say to these guys it would be a Bible verse brought to my attention by Jeremy Lin, (haha - hey! who doesn't read up about that guy?!)

"Not only so, but we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." - Roman 5:3-5

Netizens :: Why They Suck Part 1

I'm writing this post due to the recent controversy Block B has been involved in. The more and more I read about the situation, the more my heart goes out to both the Block B boys & the people of Thailand. Here are my thoughts (rather angry thoughts) on these netizens who never seem to get it right...

In this day and age there is no going back. Once you say something or do something - chances are someone, somewhere either saw or heard and within moments, whether good or bad its on the web for all the world to see, hear, and comment on. Whats been really pissing me off lately is how netizens form their insane opinions.

In the United States...

....it literally takes an all out mental breakdown or beating to arouse a negative opinion from netizens. When celebrities have ::

  • Sex Tapes - this should be a bad thing and for the typical person it is, but if you're an American celebrity [and the number of celebrities w/one is impressive] you can bet your career just got the ultimate power boost. Most netizens might be shocked at first - only to moments later become completely absorbed with the celebrity, making that celebrity that much more desirable....netizens love this

  • Drug Abuse/Go to Rehab - this is another situation that if it happened to an everyday person you can bet it would have some serious ramifications however when netizens find out their favorite celebrity is doing drugs or has gone to rehab - there is almost no opinion change. No biggie. Its whatever.

Cirque Lodge Treatment Center (via US Mag)

  • Disrespected Someone -  I really didn't know how to list this one but this is the one category that can sometimes anger netizens in the US [tho its very very rare]. Incidents that come to mind are: Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction @ the Superbowl", Chris Brown beating his then girlfriend Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian's 72 day marriage [I think netizens/Americans felt played]. Despite the emotional responses each of these events got when they happened, they still didn't result in the overall destruction of these celebrities' careers. HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!

Thoughts

American netizens seriously anger me to the core. In their eyes a celebrity can really do no wrong. One of the most blatant examples of this is the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. This man literally beat his girlfriend up. This isn't something that you can argue. There aren't any semantics to debate. This is straight fact. A man, a pretty famous one, beat up a woman, another famous person, till she was barely recognizable.

Sure when everything went down people were angry. He might have gone to court. Been booed a few times in public. Had a tough time...

....for awhile. Fast forward to present day and you'll witness American society welcoming him back and bestowing upon him one of the highest musical honors - A GRAMMY.

If there was ever one instance that brought shame upon the United States it should have been that moment - the moment our society rewarded a person, who has behaved so deplorably in the past, with the nation's top musical honor every musician strives for.

Meanwhile in Korea.....

Flutterscape :: Kawaii Video

I've wrote about Flutterscape before on this blog and think its such a great site/service. While I was browsing the site tonight (I'm currently on the hunt for an iPhone case) I noticed they had posted this super cute video explaining how their service works. Thought it was too cute not to share!

Finished Watching :: Princess Jellyfish

I really miss watching anime and I was happy to find a nice little anime to ease me back into my love for genre so here's a quick rundown...

The Basics

Tsukimi - not your average heroine
This was a pretty cute, straightforward anime about a group of nerdy women who live together and share a pretty unhealthy fear of society.  Tsukimi, the lead, is a young women who LOVES jellyfish because its her connection to her mother who died. One night when she is visiting a local jellyfish store she meets Kurako, cross dressing man who appears to be a Stylish (aka a fashionable girl), who helps Tsukimi save a jellyfish that the store clerk has unknowingly put in the same tank. That night an unlikely friendship is formed between two very different individuals.

My Thoughts

This wasn't my favorite anime but I really just think its me selling it short. Not only does this anime have a great variety of characters it also has a unique storyline that is refreshing & funny. I mean seriously, how many animes have you watched about a group of otaku women?

What makes this anime so funny is that they truly fear any social situation that outside of the group, outside of their house, with a member of the opposite sex, with a stylish...basically with anyone. Another great aspect about this anime is that while each of the women is a nerd to the core, they are each nerdy in their own right.

For instance while Tsukimi is obsessed with Jellyfish, Banba (the one with the big black fro) is obsessed with trains. I think the fact that they are all obsessed with different things adds a layer of reality to the series because in real life we all don't get geeked out over the sames stuff.

I would definitely encourage you to watch a few episodes of this anime because it might just surprise you. The one thing negative I will say about it is that it ends ABRUPTLY. And I mean super abruptly but other than that I'd say its worth giving it a shot.

the PLAGUEEEEE

My entire family except my mom and me have come down with this gnarly version of the stomach flu...

On the brightside
  • More girl scout cookies for me! (she finally came back!)
  • I'm not sick
On the NOT so brightside
  • its only a matter of time till I get sick
  • there an endless amount of laundry that I can't seem to make a dent in
  • I can't watch much of any dramas since I'm playing Cinderella/Nurse/Alice             [from Resident Evil]

this sucks.
