Flutterscape :: Kawaii Video

I've wrote about Flutterscape before on this blog and think its such a great site/service. While I was browsing the site tonight (I'm currently on the hunt for an iPhone case) I noticed they had posted this super cute video explaining how their service works. Thought it was too cute not to share!

Check it out below::

Currently Watching :: Ouran

In preparation for our next podcast I have decided to start watching jdramas/doramas this month..While I must admit its been tough since I already miss my beloved kdramas friends keep telling me that I'm going to get hooked... we'll see bout that...

First thoughts

While the anime wasn't exactly mind blowing it was still enjoyable. Its pretty amazing that the same things I loved about the anime, the fun over the top characters have translated very well into this real life version. I can't begin to tell you how much it irks me when characters you love from an anime or manga are totally reimagined and become something completely different. Like seriously, don't mess with a good thing. (the biggest fail for me was Miwako from the live action Paradise Kiss -- thats another story tho)

Yamamoto Yusuke as Suou Tamak

The drama is currently on the same level as the anime was for me. Its cute. The actors are fun. You still totally love Tamaki despite his self centered ways. Its nice.

Then again I'm only on episode 3. lol.

Stay tuned.

Anime...

Image Source
Today is the day the IPhone4s is out! So naturally I am glued to my residence waiting for the mailman to come and deliver that blessed little package. Meanwhile I decided to watch some anime... I'll admit though, I am not the type of person to just see and anime and simple watch. No, that would be too easy.  My personality is one that I have to read a summary, a few reviews, and then compare it past animes I have seen.  Rather than go through that process I decided to just rewatch Nana...

Its been awhile since I've watched this anime, it wasn't very long into watching it when I once again, fell in love!  Everything about this anime is just so -- cool.  Its got likable characters, awesome design, killer fashion, great music, and a mature storyline.  Honestly, I think if more girls/young women in the states knew anime like this existed a whole new market would open up.  Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people appreciate anime & manga here in the US but I think if animes such as Nana, Paradise Kiss, Peach Girl, Gunslinger Girl, Suzuka, etc were marketed more here it would attract such a huge fanbase.

With reality tv dominating almost every channel in the US, tv dramas or even comedies are becoming more and more of a rarity.  I think now more than ever is the US market ready for the invasion of foreign media via anime & even J-dramas/K-Dramas.  I'm so over watching other people do mundane or in some cases idiotic things and calling it entertainment.  We all live in the real world, and sometimes its nice watching something that takes you away from that.

I know this doesn't really begin to do justice to this topic but those were the thoughts flowing through my head this morning so I thought I would share...

Artist :: Juuri

The other day on twitter JapanCinema tweeted a link about an artist name Juuri...
[you can see the link I am referring to here]
I was interested to see what kind of artist she was, so I clicked on the link to check out her work and wow -- I am so glad I did!

From the first piece I saw of hers I was instantly in love.  She uses so many vibrant colors and her pieces are so feminine and intimate...Its almost hard to explain, her works are just so appealing...

I can just imagine how stunning one of her pieces might look in a sleek, modern bedroom..
makes me want one!

She has a variety of sites and you should check them all out!

Japanese Studies

So shortly after I started this blog I decided I would try to learn Japanese, anyways a lot has happened in my life since then (we've moved, and had another baby!) and that goal has somewhat fallen by the wayside...however now that fall is approaching soon and everyone is getting back into their routine I want to achieve that goal. Before I started slacking I was able to master Hiragana, and started studying Katakana.

So to jump start my studying I ordered Let's Learn Hiragana from Amazon since I have already forgotten a few hiragana and was never able to write them very well.

I must admit though my language studies faltered, I have learned so much about Japan and about Japanese culture.  I am thankful for all I have learned and the new friends I have made. Thank you all my blog friends and readers. You all have allowed me to learn something new everyday!

Hatsune Miku

I only just recently discovered who Hatsune Miku is and I must say I am a fan! I might still be a newbie to her music but the whole idea/concept of a vocaloid intrigues me. **for those who don't know what a vocaloid is {click here} but basically Ms. Miku's voice is created by synthesizers, aka she's not real**

The craziest thing is that she actually performs live and I totally want to see her.  She made her US debut at AnimeExpo this year and hopefully she will start to perform more here in the US...

Check out this video the KTLA news did about Hatsune Miku

Resume Project Grade!

So a few posts ago I was procrastinating working on a certain resume project for my business communications class.. basically we had a create our resume as if we are a fresh graduate, choose an entry level job to apply for, and interview someone we really respect and aspire to be like who is in the industry...

I really liked doing this project despite being soooo distracted doing it... the job I chose was JET.. which I would honestly like to apply for someday... as for the person I interviewed in the industry... I chose Koichi from Tofugu and Textfugu...  I really do respect everything he does since he has such integrity and passion for everything he does..

well I got my grade back...

is says 188/200.. an A!

Otaku Encyclopedia

So today when I was making my normal rounds checking out the various Japanese Culture Blogs etc... I noticed that DannyChoo had some really good visuals of the Otaku Encyclopedia..

I have been eyeing this book for awhile now, since apparently -- if your "into" Japan -- this book is a must have, and I was so happy when I saw DannyChoo's website had so many pictures of it!! (pictures of a book? oh hush and just check it out, you soooo kno you want too!)

This book give you the ins and outs of just about everything dealing with Japan, and from most of the reviews I have read about it online it seems to be really well written & entertaining.

If you have this book let me know what you think.. otherwise I think I just might be going to Barnes and Noble tonight after class =)

Treat Time!

So this month I was blessed and had a little bit of extra money to play around with… sooooo like any other girl there was two items i have been eyeing for some time and nowwwww

i can purchase them!

the first one is this like amazing mascara, and makes you have super long lashes! since i am no good with false lashes i am curious to see how well this mascara will work and my currently fav (Dior) is just WAY too expensive…in a few days i will be able to let you know myself!

Majolica Majorca!  (soon to be mine!)

the second item is this eyeliner i have been reading about on a few blogs… i currently use this insane liquid liner by MAC because heaven forbid anyone see me without my liner.. lol

this liner is supposed to be super long lasting – so we shall see!
